Jackrabbit Illustrated's All-MVFC selections
Where did this regular season go? It feels like I was just at the first practice back in July sweating in the sun. This has been another great season for the Missouri Valley Football Conference, the top conference in the FCS. As we move to the post-season I thought it would be fun to create a "Jackrabbit Illustrated All-Conference Team."
I set out creating this list and thought it wouldn't be too hard. However, certain positions really created some problems. Quarterback, wide receiver, and linebacker especially. Streveler was the most valuable player for his team and ultimately that is why I went with him. At wide receiver, the MVFC has some amazing players. I went with Wieneke over others who have greater stats because of the double coverage he faced nearly every week. I left Deluca off of the list because he didn't seem to hit his stride until about halfway through the conference season. Still a great player but Taylor, Rozeboom, and Farley put up better numbers this season. Jabril Cox was also close to making the list but just didn't have the overall statistics to match the others.
Also, SDSU did not play Indiana State this season so I never had the chance to scout them or watch any of their film. Although there were some players who had solid statistics for the Sycamores, I ultimately couldn't put any athletes on this list who played for an 0-11 team.

Coach of the year?
ReplyDeleteI mean Coach of the year, Humm. I could be convinced that Nielson should get it BUT and it's a big BUT. With watching how their players acted on the field Vs SDSU and the Off-field issues I think it's hard to award this to him. Otherwise he would have my vote, He might get it anyway. and if So I hope it causes an Earlier departure from the Mo. Valley if the issues are indeed something that comes with him. I'm also wiling to accept that it's not him, but doesn't change my outlook with just this last season as the lens.
