2021 Fall Roster Updates



The Jackrabbits started fall camp on August 5th and the roster on GoJacks.com has been updated!  Many of the roster moves were already known but here is a rundown of how things look now.

Departures:

Players from the spring season who are no longer on the roster: 

  • Preston Tetzlaff (LB)- Graduation
  • Blake Kunz (TE)- Retired
  • Karst Hunter (ATH/QB)- Transferred to Colorado Mesa
  • Torren Union (CB)- Transferred to New Mexico State University
  • Avian Thomas (RB)
  • Jefferson Lee, V (RB)- Injury retired
  • Jordan Meachum (RB)- Graduated
  • Marlon Wiley (WR)
  • Shane Dailey Jr. (WR)- Transferred to Idaho St.
  • Trajan Walhof (OL)- Graduated
  • Isaac Appleget (LB)

Additions:

  • #5 Landon Wolf, wide receiver, is a grad transfer from Oklahoma State.  He was with the team for the spring season and won "Scout Player of the Week" multiple times throughout the season.  His teammates have raved about his ability and character.
  • #6 Chris Oladokun, quarterback, is a grad transfer from Samford.  He is competing for the starting QB role and is certainly a player to watch.  The former 3 star recruit started his career at South Florida.
  • One surprise is the addition of #31 Patrick Hoffmann at wide receiver.  Hoffman is technically a second year player as he spent his first season at Northern Illinois.  The Jackrabbit connection, he was high school teammates with Mark Gronowski at Neuqua Valley HS.
  • All of the freshman who committed in December and February are on the roster.  
  • Late additions to the class #16 Jon Bell (QB) and #28 Daxon Lindholm (RB) are on the roster.
  • The "Athletes" from the 2021 recruiting class now have positions

    • #41 Jackson Hilton is in at wide receiver
    • #23 Matthew Durrance is listed as a safety
    • #34 Ryan Swoger is listed as a safety
    • #19 Jaden Crockett is listed as a safety
    • #39 Aydan Dautermann is listed a cornerback


Position Changes:

  • #34 Mike Morgan is now listed as a FB/TE which is essentially an H-Back.  Mike has now been listed on the roster as a FB, RB, TE, and FB/TE.  As we saw in the spring, he is a swiss-army knife and can be used in a variety of ways.   
  • #2 Isaiah Stalbird is still listed as a safety but Matt Zimmer reported he is switching to linebacker.

Number Changes

  • Caleb Francl 45 to 16
  • Steven Arrell 39 to 26
  • Dalys Beanum 28 to 7
  • DyShawn Gales 13 to 5
  • Corben Mahaffy 18 to 27
  • Daeton Mcgaughy 15 to 8


Of Note:

  • #88 Brandon Lane Jr is now listed at a weight of 290 vs the 245 he came into camp at last summer.
  •  #22 Tolu Ogunrinde is down 5 pounds.
  • In fact, most of the defensive line is down across the board 5-10 pounds.  I'm interested if that was intentional or not.
  • #11 Mark Gronowski is up 20 pounds (I fully realize he won't play this fall).  
  • The wide receiver and cornerback rooms are exceptionally young.  13 of the 15 rostered wide receivers are sophomores or freshmen.  10 of the 12 corners are sophomores or freshmen.

    Nice try- Mark Gronowski’s always been 220 pounds of solid muscle. They just got it wrong on the roster last year. Ask him yourself.

Alright, another year of Jackrabbit football is upon us. We are celebrating at Jackrabbit Illustrated, this our 5th season covering the team.  The players who we first covered as freshmen are now redshirt seniors. We hope you are as excited as us for this upcoming season. Chef Tim, a culinary instructor at Mitchell Tech and contributing writer, has some fun recipes for you this season.  He has committed to doing one a week. I have nothing but faith that he will get them turned in! We start the season celebrating with celebrations. Guide to Fort Collins

The Jackrabbit games about FBS teams are always fun.  It is a chance to take in a different town and watch the team prove themselves against a foe who is one classification higher.  This year the Jacks aren't playing a Power 5 team but are playing a Great 5 team, Colorado State.  We have a guest contributor today, Jackrabbit legend Austin Sumner.  Austin was the starting QB from 2011 to 2014.  .  Below are some of his recommendations for Fort Collins.
