Jackrabbit Football Recruiting Update: Class of 2018

It is hard to believe but December 20th will be here before we know it.  That is the day when "Early Signing Day" takes place for the class of 2018.  The Jacks are nearly full but are adding the right type of play makers that will put this talented class over the top.

Here is a quick review of the current verbals. Click the athletes name to view their highlights.
QB- J'Bore Gibbs, 6'3 205, Chicago, IL (Phillips)
TE- Zach Heins, 6'6 230, Sioux Falls, SD (Washington)
OL- Mason McCormick, 6'4 275, Sioux Falls, SD (Roosevelt)
OL- Garret Greenfield, 6'6 270, Rock Valley, IA
OL- Max Howard, 6'7 345, Brandon, SD
DT- Ryan Van Marel, 6'5 250, Sheldon, IA
DT- Caleb Sanders, 6'2 260, Glenwood, IA
LB- Seth Benson, 6'1 205, Sioux Falls, SD (Washington)
LB- Joey Johnson, 6'3 210, Gretna, NE
CB- Tijaih Davis, 6'0 175, Boys Town, NE
DB- Nick Garlisch, 5'11 190, St. Charles, IL
S- Saiveon Williamson, 6'1 190, Waseca, MN
K-  Brock Walker, 5'10 190, Sioux Falls, SD (Washington)

That list is already a talented class but the Jacks are poised to add to it.  At every home game there have been a number of visits from athletes in the class of 2018, 2019, and even a few from 2020.  Here are a few of the known visits, offers, and athletes for the Jacks.

2018 Interest
DL- RJ Clarke, 6'4 255, St. Francis, WI.
- Clark is an outstanding interior lineman that has great size.  Clarke attended the Dakota Marker game with his family and was able to meet with Justin Sell.  He is a finalist for the Tim Krumrie Award which is given to the top senior defensive lineman in Wisconsin.

DE- Ryan Kluver, 6'5 240, Buffalo, MN
-Kluver has good size, quickness, and appears to shed blocks well.  It would be great to continue to add athletes from Minnesota as the Jackrabbit brand continues to grow.

LB- Mike Timm, 6'1 220, Wales, WI (Kettle Moraine)
-Timm played both running back and linebacker for his team.  He made plays all over the field and would be a welcome addition to this class.  He is a finalist for the John Anderson Award which is given to the top senior linebacker in Wisconsin.

CB- Jordan Pringle, 5'10 151, Bollingbrock, IL
-Pringle had a monster senior season and recently was offered a PWO from Wyoming.  He would be a great cover corner for the Jacks to add.  Besides coverage ability he also seems to play the run with great physicality.

CB- Nehemiah Montague, 6'0 184, Minnetonka, MN (Minnetonka)
-Montague is a playmaker and big time athlete.  His highlight shows great speed and ball skills.  He also appears to be a willing tackler in the run game.

S- Ricky Manning, 6'2 180, Scottsdale, AZ (Notre Dame Prep)
Manning has ideal size for a safety and runs a 4.5 40.  He is a sound tackler that possesses good closing speed.  Manning also looks to be a big hitter that makes receivers think twice before running across the middle.

QB- Matt Masker, 6'2 204, Kearney, NE (Kearney Catholic)
-Masker is the #1 rated QB in the state of Nebraska.  He has broken most passing records in the C1 Class in Nebraska.  He would be a great addition and add competition to the race to become the successor to Taryn Christion.

RB- Jerome Barnes, 6'0 210, Papillion, NE
Barnes possesses a great combination of speed and size.  His 40 is listed at 4.68 but he looks to play much faster than that.  He is a powerful young man that could continue a line of great Jackrabbit running backs.

RB-  Jefferson Lee V, 5'9 185, Marshall, MN
Lee V has put up big numbers in his prep career rushing for over 1,400 yards and 27 TDs as a sophomore, 1864 yards and 38 TDs as a junior, and has gained 1165 yards and 24 TDs in just the regular season during his senior campaign.  With Marshall going deep into the playoffs again, look for Lee V to build on these numbers!

Fullback- Zeke Wall, 6'1 270, Carl Junction, MO
This guy really really really likes to hit people.  Zeke plays with great leverage and looks like a very powerful young man.

H Back- Maxwell Janes, 6'3 230, Arden Hills, MN (Mounds View)
-Janes had a great senior season and has recently drawn a lot of interest from area FCS schools.  He also recently added an offer from Wyoming.  He was recently selected to the Minnesota State High School All-Star game.

ATH- Clayton Isbell,  6'3 200, St Charles, IL (St. Charles East)
-Isbell is teammates with Jackrabbit commit Nick Garlisch.  Isbell can play a variety of positions because of his great combination of size and speed.  This year he played as a quarterback in a triple option offense but could play tight end for the Jackrabbits.

ATH- Michael Littleton Jr,  6'3 210, Derby, KS (Derby)
-Littleton Jr. was offered back in August.  He is a freak athlete who possesses good size and speed.  His high school team is still alive in the Kansas 6A state playoffs and plays their sectional game this Friday.  Littleton is a big part of a potent Derby offense that has scored 454 points this season.

WR- Jadon & Jaxon Janke, (6'3 190 and 6'3 195)  twins from Madison, SD
-Two of the better athletes in South Dakota regardless of class.  Both have created plays for Madison throughout their careers.  Jaxon had the #1 play on SportsCenter in the fall of 2016 for an incredible catch.

WR- Shiloh Flanagan, 6'4 180, Sioux Falls, SD (Washington)
-Another talented athlete from Washington.  Flanagan has great size for the wide receiver position and put up good numbers in an offense that likes to run the ball.  Flanagan has good hands and runs smooth routes.

WR- Zion Perry, 5'7 165, Lincoln, NE (Lincoln)
-Zion is a play maker with 4.4 speed.  Zion holds offers from nearly every powerhouse division 2 school.  Following his electric senior year he may be looking to add more.  On the season he had 61 catches, 1108 yards, and 16 touchdowns in just 9 games!

WR/TE- Ethan Swanegan, 6'5 210, Blue Springs, MO (Blue Springs South)
-Swanegan is another WR/TE highbred.  He has great body control and is fast.  He had 52 catches for 751 yards and 6 TDs this season.

TE- Blake Kunz, 6'5 240, Germantown, WI
-Kunz had a big senior season.  Heading into the final week of the regular season, Kunz had caught 22 passes for 499 yards and 8 TDS.

OL/DL- Sam Wilmott, 6'3 250, Rosemount, MN (Rosemount)
-So far the Jacks have offered a preferred walk-on to Sam as indicated by his twitter account.  Wilmott looks like a good athlete and he certainly has the frame to add more weight regardless if he ends up on the offensive or defensive line.

OL- Ian Bass, 6'4 280, Rosemount, MN (Rosemount)
-Again this is a preferred walk-on to Ian as indicated by his twitter.  He is a big strong guy that Coach Eck could mold into one of his #605Hogs.

This is what I have been able to track down through social media as well as who I think the Jacks should still be targetting about a month and half before early signing day.

Go Jacks!
-Matt
