3 Matchups to Watch: YSU

Hobo Day is almost here!  Happy happy Hobo Week.  As an undergrad and as a staff member, this was my favorite week of the year and leaves Little I week as a distant second.  YSU enters the game needing a win to keep its name in the playoff discussion.  SDSU needs a win to get the bad taste out of it's mouth after losing the Dakota Marker tilt and struggling on defense against Indiana State.  The weather keeps looking better for tomorrow and I'm personally excited to bring my daughter to her first ever Hobo Day and my son will be making his second appearance.

Matchups to Watch
1. Christian Rozeboom vs. Tevin McCaster
Rozeboom is the best middle linebacker in the MVFC and McCaster is one of the top running backs.  On the season he has broke free for 535 yards behind a big and physical offensive line.  If the defensive line can do their job and eat up blockers then Rozeboom will be free to roam and make plays.  The Jacks need him to play fast and physical like he did against NDSU.  Holding McCaster below 100 yards would go a long way to ensuring a victory.

2. Evan Greeneway & either Aron Johnson or Tyler Weir vs. YSU Defensive Ends
Greeneway and Weir had enjoyed a pretty solid start to their season but last week Weir went down with an injury and redshirt freshman Aron Johnson came in and played pretty well.  YSU's defensive ends are good.  Bynum has 4 sacks, Richmond has 3 and the other two in the rotation have a sack a piece. This is even without Florida gator transfer, Justus Reed, who is out for the season due to injury.  In 2017 he had 7 sacks.  Greeneway and Johnson/Weir will have to be at their best in order to give Taryn time in the pocket to take shots down the field.

3. Luke Sellers vs. Armand Dellovade
Sellers is a wrecking ball as a pass blocker and Dellovade is a tackling machine.  The senior All-MVFC linebacker has wracked up 256 tackles in his career.  Sellers has done a very good job this season as the lead blocker in the running game.  The Jacks are averaging 6.6 yards per rush and 252 yards per game on the ground.  These are incredible numbers.  If the Jacks can run the ball against this YSU defense and tire out the pass rush then they should win the game.  I realize that not every run play will feature Sellers on Dellovade but I think it is important to recognize that the Jacks must get a hat on #42 or he will wreck plays before they even have a chance to start.

Go Jacks!
