2019 Prospect: Nouri Nouili


We are on the homestretch of the 2019 recruiting class.  With just less than two weeks left the Jackrabbit coaches are scouring the US looking for the top talent.  One of the most interesting prospects that the coaches have offered is Nouredin (Nouri) Nouili.

I had the chance to visit with Nouili Wednesday night to find out a little bit about this dominant offensive lineman.  Nouri shared that he is a German exchange student who was born and raised in Frankfurt.  Nouri played seven years of soccer and played two years of organized football before arriving in Firth, Nebraska to compete at Norris High School.  At Norris he played on the offensive line, defensive line, and served as the punter for half the season after an injury to the regular punter. His highlight is filled with pancakes, punishing tackles, and even an awesome fake punt. 

Nouri shared that when he first arrived in Nebraska, "I wanted to be a tight end because I have great hands. But offensive line is the best position. It's not like defensive line where you hear your name called when you make a big play or hit. It's (offensive line) the position where you have to work the most without any appreciation except from those who know."  This seems like the perfect attitude for a #605Hog.

Nouri's recruitment has blown up in the past three weeks.  He is taking official visits to SDSU, NDSU, and UNI.  Wednesday night Nouri received full-ride scholarship offers from UNI and SDSU.  USD and UND have expressed interest and Nebraska has offered him a PWO.  


Nouri said that he was first visited by Coach Jackson last Monday (Jan 14th) and then had a follow-up with Coach Eck on Tuesday (22nd) before receiving his offer last night (23rd).  If the Jackrabbits can land Nouri he would join an OUTSTANDING 2019 class.  Good luck to Nouri on his decision.

What's Cookin': Dessert

Alright, another year of Jackrabbit football is upon us. We are celebrating at Jackrabbit Illustrated, this our 5th season covering the team.  The players who we first covered as freshmen are now redshirt seniors. We hope you are as excited as us for this upcoming season. Chef Tim, a culinary instructor at Mitchell Tech and contributing writer, has some fun recipes for you this season.  He has committed to doing one a week. Rants & Raves: LIU

The Jacks won 38-3 on a cold and damp September evening.  The Jacks dominated statistically in nearly every area but it didn't feel like a fully satisfying victory.  How spoiled have we become as Jackrabbit fans? Rave: How about that defense?  The argument could be made that they have only surrendered 17 points in 2 games.  Pretty impressive.  For most of the night Saturday LIU was completely overwhelmed by the size and speed of the Jackrabbit defense.  LIU managed only 123 yards of total offense.  The performance was phenominal, even against a transitioning FCS opponent. I'll highlight some of the invidual performances later. Rant: Adult fans... enough said.  This writer is tired of the apathy and excuses.
