2019 Winter Commits

Edited on 2/4/19 to reflect new commitments.

The early signing period came and went for the Jackrabbit football team in December.  At that time the Jacks signed 23 student athletes (For full details on the group that signed in December, see this post).  However, while the bulk of the class was signed, Dan Jackson, SDSU recruiting coordinator shared that, "We will look to add a handful of difference makers in the spring signing period."  Signing day is February 6th.  The Jacks have been adding talent since the end of the year and stand at nine commits.  Lets take a look at who is all on board.

Michael Drotzmann- Punter, 6'3, 190- Yankton, South Dakota

Cole Frahm- Kicker- 6'5, 235- Omaha (Omaha Burke)/ Nebraska transfer

Tyrece Frater- Defensive Tackle- 6'3, 260- Kissimmee, Florida (Liberty HS)

Devin Blakley- Running Back- 5'10, 180- LaGrange Park, Illinois (Nazareth  Academy)

Kevin Brenner- Defensive End- 6'3, 225- Wilmot, Wisconsin

Tyson Strohbeen- Offensive Line- 6'3, 280- Sioux City, Iowa (Bishop Heelan)

Joey Slama- Athlete- 6'3, 180- Tyndall, South Dakota (Bon Homme)

Zac Wilson- Defensive End- 6'4, 220- Chipley, Florida (Chipley)

Graham Spalding- Outside Linebacker- 6'1, 195- Winter Park, Florida (Lake Howell)

These are nine high quality players that add to the talent and depth of this class.  I expect the Jacks to stay put with where they are at unless Nouri Nouili commits to SDSU.  He will be announcing on Wednesday (signing day).

The depth of talent in this class is what sets it apart from past recruiting classes and others in the MVFC.  Coach Stig always talks about "Difference Makers" in a recruiting class.  I can see this type of potential up and down the list of young men who have committed.  A common theme from player's tweets is that they want to bring a championship trophy to Brookings.  With the talent the Jacks currently have on the roster, coupled with an infusion of new talent, I don't see why the Jacks can't do that.
