Jackrabbit Mens Basketball All D1 Team

I realize I don't write much about either of the basketball teams but Mike Daum reaching 3,000 points makes me realize how lucky we have been to see some great basketball the last 10 years.  For fun, I put together my Jackrabbit All-D1 lineup.  I'd love to hear your thoughts and who you think belongs on this list.

1st Team:
PG: Nate Wolters
SG: Deondre Parks
SF: Reed Tellinghuisen
PF: Mike Daum
C: Cody Larson

I think you would be hard pressed to find another mid-major school who could build a better starting five (not counting Gonzaga) in the last dozen years.  Wolters, Parks, and Daum could/can score however they want while Tellinghuisen and Larson filled the stat sheet in so many other ways.  Wolters and Parks have enjoyed stellar international playing careers while Tellinghuisen passed on that opportunity and chose to get into the coaching ranks.  Daum may get drafted and if not will certainly get an opportunity in the Summer League which should turn into a training camp invite and potentially an NBA roster.

2nd Team:
PG: George Marshall
SG: David Jenkins
SF: Chad White
PF: Jordan Dykstra
C: Tony Fiegen

This lineup features 3 scorers (Jenkins, White, and Dykstra), an excellent distributor (Marshall), and maybe the toughest Jackrabbit of the D1 era, Tony Fiegen.  Tony should likely be a PF but he needs to be on this list and the Jacks haven't had a ton of true 5's in their D1 history.  I think by the time his Jackrabbit career is done, Jenkins will have swapped placed with Deondre Parks.

3rd Team:
PG: Brayden Carlson
SG: Clint Sargent
SF: Griffan Callahan
PF: Kai Williams
C: Ben Beran

This list features a number of players from the early division 1 days.  "The Dark Days", as they are commonly called, featured a young team who was short on seniors but these guys stayed true to SDSU and the process of transitioning to D1.  Griffan and Brayden got to experience the Big Dance but it likely would not have been possible without Sargent, Williams and Beran sticking out the dark days.  Brayden played both the 1 and the 2 in his time at SDSU but for this list he will be a PG.  Sargent was one of the best pure shooters to step on the court at Frost.  Callahan and Beran were so scrappy and tough while Williams is very underrated, in my opinion.  He was asked to do so much with not a ton of talent around him for much of his career.

Honorable Mention:
Dale Moss, Lane Severyn, Tevin King, Skyler Flatten, Garrett Callahan, Jake Bittle, Keaton Moffitt

The Jacks have had plenty of star power in the back-court making for some really tough decisions.

What are your thoughts?  How would you build your ultimate Jackrabbit D1 roster?

Go Jacks!
Matt
